Looking for William Wordsworth, we found John Ruskin
In the Lake District in North England we were searching for William Wordsworth, the English poet that is considered to be one of the founding fathers of British romanticism. Wordsworth can be seen as one of the lovers of the 'picturesque'. What we found however was a landscape that can be so rough and inhospitable, it surely leaves you in a contemplative mind about what 'wild' is, even when the landscape is inhabited. You feel a small part of the greater whole that is nature. With its many ruins and gothic elements, what we found in the end is the world of John Ruskin: the world of gothic spires, distant horizons, and soaring, dizzling heights.
Here printed with photographic emulsion on saunders waterford watercolour paper; negatives from 35mm Leica IIIf as well as a 4x5 inch pinhole camera. All prints ca. 20 / 28 cm.
